Milwaukee 223E
Like many valves, a butterfly valve is used for regulating or preventing the flow of fluid, air, gas, steam, or chemicals in a pipeline. However, a butterfly valve--aptly named for it's unique configuration--utilizes a flap or disc, rather than a ball, clapper, gate, or any of the other various number of plug styles. The advantages of the butterfly valve in industrial applications are that its movements, when automated, are very quick and extremely precise; they weigh less because the disc is lighter than other plugs in comparable valves and port diameters; and housing requires less mass due to lower structural integrity demands. A major manufacturer of industrial grade butterfly valves is Milwaukee Valve.
Why Choose Milwaukee
First and foremost, you are buying a product backed by over 100 years of experience in the valve industry--you're buying the assured quality of the Milwaukee Valve name. An industry leader, Milwaukee Valve uses CAD and state-of-the-art technology to design and manufacture top-of-the-line products. The CL223E series is the latest star in Milwaukee's continuous valve technology advancements, and should be your number one choice for any butterfly valve application.
Introducing the Milwaukee CL223E
Available in sizes ranging from 2" to 12", is a cast iron (ASTM A126 CL B), lug type bi-directional butterfly valve featuring bi-directional dead end service to 200psi. The disc is composed of a corrosion resistant aluminum bronze alloy (ASTM B148). This valve utilizes an EPDM seal, liner, and stem seal. Bottom and top stems are constructed of reinforced steel (type 416), and the lower bearing is composed of reinforced nylon. This butterfly valve--of course--can be actuated, but comes standard with an epoxy coated lever handle (ductile-iron).
When to Use the Milwaukee CL223E
The 223E is approved by the United States Coast Guard in any Type A service (outlined in Title 46 of Federal Regulation Codes). These Navy delegated regulations are applied to every Milwaukee product made. In other words, this butterfly valve is ideal and highly recommended for all industrial applications, including water, oil, gas and chemical distribution industries where reliability, dependability, and longevity count. The housing of the 223E is also flanged for easy bolt-on installation and removal, making this valve field repairable and/or replaceable, which means it also contributes to fast repair times, inspection checks, and line section replacements. The cast iron housing is also actually more corrosion resistant than steel, and the EPDM seals are water and chemical resistant, as well.
